Faux Letterpress with Magnolia Branches

Hello Crafty Friends and Happy Fri-YAY!  We've made it to the weeks' end and I hope you have great plans for something fun.  Today's card features embossing for a faux letterpress look.

To start my project, I inked the smooth or debossed side of the Simon Says Stamp Magnolia Branches embossing folder with Salvaged Patina and Antique Linen Distress Oxide Inks.  To get a smooth blend between colors, I used a brayer to roll over the inks where they meet and slightly above.  I placed the panel of Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80 lb. card in the folder and ran through my die cutting machine.

The result was ink on the debossed areas and no ink on the embossed areas.  I really like this technique, it makes for an impressive card front with little to no effort.  The tip is to use a brayer to create a smooth ink blend.  I stamped a small sentiment, added sequins and matted with black card and Voila!  Complete.

Thanks for stopping by.  Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Bugaboo Saturday Summer Sign

Hello and Happy Saturday!  Today begins a new bi-weekly Anything Goes challenge on the Bugaboo Stamps Catch the Bug Challenge Blog.  My design team project today is a card celebrating Summer.

Summer Dreams of Camping, Fishing, Swimming, BBQ'ing, Fireworks, Holidays and the Beach are filling my head.

For my card, I colored the Summer Sign digital stamp with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers, ink blended a sky using the Mini Cloud Edges stencil from My Favorite Things, Die cut rolling hills and blended all with Salvaged Patina and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide Inks from Tim Holtz.  Please stop by the challenge blog and enter your design, we would love to see what you create!

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Wild About You

Hello and Happy Thursday!  Wow, this week has flown by and I've been a day behind all week.  Today's make and share features a sweet elephant and alcohol marker coloring.

The image and sentiment are from the Simon Says Stamp Wild Cuddly Critters Stamp Set. This set may be retired as I was unable to find it on the Simon Site, I purchased the set from an eBay seller.

I colored the image and sentiment with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers, masked and ink blended a halo around the image using Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Ink, stamped hearts, colored and applied Clear Nuvo Drops for dimension, Lastly, mounted the focal panel on a mat of Gray card and called this project complete.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Seeds of Friendship

Hello and Happy Tuesday!  Today I'm sharing a card created using the Paint-A-Flower Monthly Stamp Set from Altenew.  This is the May 2021 set and it features a bouquet of lovely Chamomile Flowers.  This set includes 2 floral images and 5 sentiments/word stamps; the sentiment used today is from a Scrapbooking Queen set that I've had for ages.  I don't believe the Scrapbooking Queen sells supplies any longer.

I've colored the image with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers, then fussy cut and mounted on foam pads for dimension.  I've ink blended the area directly behind the focal image with the newest Distress Oxide color - Salvaged Patina, splattered diluted Dina Wakley Black Gloss Spray and stamped the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black Ink.  I adore this set and can't wait to create using the other floral image in the set.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!
