I'm Happiest When I'm With You

Hello and Happy Friday!  Father's Day is fast approaching (here in the States, it's this Sunday, the 19th of June) so I've had a play with a bit of ink and stenciling to create a Vintage Tag.

I'm not great at creating Vintage or Shabby Chic themes but I've had the Tim Holtz Paper Dolls in my stash for a long time, so I thought to myself "a challenge is a good thing"..and it helps creativity.

Using a Mixed Media Tag from Joggles, I ink smooshed Distress Inks in shades of Blue and Brown to layer some color.  In between dries, I stamped clock and text images using the same distress ink colors.  I also stenciled splats and drips.

I've fussy cut clock and timer images from ephemera I have in my stash and adhered to the tag, as well as washi tape.  I've adhered the paper dolls flat and traced around with a fine liner black pen, then adhered quotes from the Tim Holtz Small Talk Sticker pack.  Lastly, I tied some seam binding, thread and twine to the tag and called it complete.

I will give this to my hubby for Father's Day, the back is blank and ready for a sentiment.  Maybe he will hang it from the rear view mirror in his truck.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Vintage Botanical

Happy Saturday!  Ahhh...the weekend and here in the States, it's a holiday weekend.  Today's make and share features stamping and laminating.

I was inspired by a Jennifer McGuire video where she shared a technique using a laminator.  To create my card, I stamped the image, from Bo Bunny's Vintage Botanical Journal stamp set, on the inside of a laminating sheet using Stazon Solvent Ink.  I let this dry thoroughly and ran the sheet through a hot laminator.  The result is a stamped image encased in the laminating sheet.

I die cut the image with a scalloped oval die and strategically placed drops of glue on the piece to adhere to a cream colored die cut card.  I die cut a small panel and mounted the image on this panel using foam pads.  Then mounted the entire panel on the card base using foam pads.  Lastly, added cream colored seam binding and 2 sentiment strips from the Tim Holtz "Clippings" strip pack.  The designer papers are from the Prima Marketing "Romance Novel" 6x6 paper pad.

It's a unique and interesting technqiue that produces beautiful results.  Give it a go, just remember to use an ink that can be used on a surface such as a laminating sheet.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

The Paper Funday Challenges - March 2021 Challenge

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  It's the 1st Wednesday of March and that means a new challenge has started at The Paper Funday Challenges.  The theme this month is Anything Goes with Optional Twist of Irish Luck (Add the Color Green).  We have 2 wonderful sponsors this month, Vectoria Designs and QKR Stampede.

For my design team project, I used the Queen Bees Digital Paper Pack from Vectoria Designs to create a Vintage Inspired Friendship Card in A2 size and Landscape orientation.

The papers in the pack are gorgeous.  I selected a few images to highlight then die cut panels using Spellbinders dies and fussy cut images to bring all the elements together.  Finishing touches include ceating depth with foam pads, a simple twine bow, a copper charm embellishment, Vintage Photo distress ink to distress the edges and Gelly Roll Sparkle Pen for a bit of shine.

We hope you will join in the fun this month at The Paper Funday Challenges.  We would love to see your creations and hope to inspire you with ours.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Vintage Vibe Christmas Tags

Hello All and Happy Wednesday!  Today I'm sharing tags that have a Vintage vibe to me (not intended as I have a hard time doing Shabby and Vintage any justice).   These were created using a Stitched Tag Die and Snowflake Dies from Gina K. Designs.  The papers are from a digital paper pack I purchased on Creative Fabrica and layered on a tag base of white card for sturdiness; and to add the "To" and "From" stamp.

Each snowflake was cut from Glitter paper, I hand dyed white ribbon using Distress Inks, the sentiments are from Cardz TV stamp sets and cut with circle and scalloped oval dies.  The finishing touch was to add coordinating gems to the middle of the snowflakes.

The countdown to Christmas continues and so does my tag making :)   Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Cardz 4 Galz - Pumpkins

Hello Everyone!  It's time for a new challenge at Cardz 4 Galz and the theme this round is Pumpkins.  I wanted to make something different than the standard square card.  I've made a few round cards lately so I came across the idea to create a card shaped like a pumpkin while scrolling through Pinterest.
There are so many beautifully designed cards shaped like Pumpkins on Pinterest, I didn't use one particular style but took the general idea and put my own spin on it.

The papers are  from a paper pad I had left over from last year by Carta Bella named Hello Fall.  The ribbon, jute string and button were from my stash, the sentiment is stamped on a die cut tag and the edges were inked with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  This card measures 5.25" x 5.25".

I hope you've been inspired to join us at Cardz 4 Galz for this 2 week challenge, we would love to see you there.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Teal. Blue and White Shabby Chic Card with Matching Box

Hello Everyone and Happy Wednesday!

Today I'm sharing the last of the matching cards and boxes I recently created.  This was a quick project using Prima Marketing designer papers, die cuts, faux pearls, floral accents from Wild Orchid Crafts, Tonic Studios Nuvo Crystal drops and stained seam binding.

The card measures 4.5" x 5.5"; a standard A2 size.  The box is slightly larger than the card for a good fit; it's 1/2 " deep.  I chose to use a satin ribbon from my stash for the box instead of seam binding.  Maybe in hindsight, I should have went with the seam binding for the box.

I hope you enjoyed my quick project share for today and until next time, Happy Crafting!

A Vintage Birthday Wish Card with Matching Box

Hello Everyone!  I hope all is well with you and yours and you enjoyed a wonderful Memorial Day Holiday.

Today I have another card with matching box to share with you.  This matching set has a Vintage feel; card measures 4.25" x 5.5" (A2).

Vintage and Shabby Chic are my absolute favorite to create.  I feel I'm better at creating Vintage but I still try with Shabby Chic.  This card was created with Prima Love Notes Papers, flowers and leaves from Wild Orchid Crafts, die cuts and ribbon from my stash.

The base is kraft colored cardstock from Recollections.  I have inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and colored the lace die cut mat with Tattered Rose Distress Ink.  I then spritzed the card with Glimmer Mist for some sparkle.

The matching box is simple in it's design and decoration.  Covered with the same Prima Love Notes designer paper and a ribbon from my stash to be used as a closure.

The box measures slightly larger than the card for a nice fit.

I hope you enjoyed my project today.  I have one more matching card and box to share, then it's Masculine Cards for Father's Day.

Till Next time, Happy Crafting!

Lovely Lavendar and White Card with Matching Box

Hello Everyone!  I hope all is well with you and yours.

Today I have another card with matching box to share with you.  I couldn't resist creating this set using my favorite color which is Purple and all shades thereof.  This card measures 4.25" x 5.5" (A2).

The die cuts used for this card are the lace doily, the white background mat and the sentiment circle.  The sentiment is heat embossed with Ranger Gold Fine Embossing Powder.  The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the ribbon is from my stash (Wal-Mart I believe).

I dotted the flowers with liquid adhesive and sprinkled extra fine glitter on the adhesive.  The adhesive will dry clear and all that's left to be seen is the glitter.  This technique of using glitter in this way was inspired by Christina Griffiths at Flowers, Ribbons and Pearls.

The Box was made using heavy weight cardstock, Neenah 110 lb Solar White and Embossed Purple cardstock placed on top.  The box is finished off with a ribbon closure and the box measures 4.5" x 5.75", slightly larger than the card for a good fit.  *** Tip:  I used a circle punch to cut 1/2 circles from the sides of the lid in order to provide an easier opening of the box.

Both the card and box are being offered for sale in my Etsy Shoppe (link to your right - in the column).

That's all I have for you today; I hope you were inspired and until next time....Happy Crafting!

Anna Griffin Shabby Chic and Vintage Card Set

Hello Everyone and to all the Mothers out there...I hope your day was extra special!

Today I am sharing a set of 4 note cards I created using Anna Griffin Designer Papers, Vintage Flowers and Butterflies.  I used my Cricut Access to purchase the images, then printed and cut them to use for my card fronts.  One of the note cards has a little Song Bird ephemera image from K & Company.  For all the cards, I used photopolymer stamps from CardzTV Stamps.

These beautiful cabbage roses are some of my favorite images.  I added some pink lace and Nuvo Drops to simulate pearls.

This little Song Bird is so sweet.  I used a circle die to cut out a circle for the focal images, inked the edges of the papers with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink, used Nuvo Drops to simulate pearls and finished off with seam binding tied into a bow.

I feel this card has such a dramatic coloring scheme and is quite eye catching.  Anna Griffin Vintage Floral images are so lovely.

This card has a bit more embellishment.  I used two different dies for the main focal point mat and the sentiment scalloped ovals.  I added some lace and faux pearls (not Nuvo Drops this time).  I inked all the edges with Tim Holtz Tea Dye Distress Ink and finished with a spray of Shimmer Spray Glitz.

Last but not least, I went with a Butterfly for this card as I felt I had 2 florals and 1 bird so I needed a butterfly to finish the set.  This Butterfly image is another Anna Griffin image that I purchased from Cricut Access.  I used satin ribbon, a die cut for the focal image to rest on and some fauz pearls.  For the finishing touch, I spritzed with some Shimmer Spray.

I hope you enjoyed my note cards and the lovely images from Anna Griffin as well as the stamped sentiments from CardzTV.  I had so much fun creating these cards and they are currently available for purchase so Please visit my Etsy Shoppe for this card set.

Thank you for visiting and until next time, Happy Crafting!

Diamond Fold Birthday Card

I love to create cards with unique folds.  The standard portrait or landscape card is nice but a fancy fold card just makes a statement!

I often cruise Pinterest looking for inspiration and found a Diamond Fold Card.  After reading through tutorials, it seemed the card usually came out as a 4" x 4" square but I wanted a slightly bigger card so I followed directions from this Blog: Crafty Maria's Stamping Blog and added a 1/4 inch, making my card 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" square; just right for a standard A2 envelope (4.25" x 5.5").

Here is the front of my card.  I created a Birthday Card and used the Photo Play Collection Pack 12"X12"‑French Flea Market.  The papers in this Pack are gorgeous!

Instead of leaving the front as a diamond shape, I used one of the cut outs provided in the paper pack and adhered to the diamond on the front.

I stamped the sentiment  on a plain white piece of cardstock and adhered inside; to the back of the diamond shape.

I added a lace paper doily, cut in half, on either side of the fold and also placed a whole paper doily right underneath the oblong cut out.  Presto....a beautiful Diamond Fold Card.  Give this fold a try...you won't be sorry and it's very easy to create.

Till next time, Happy Crafting!

Graphic 45 Botanica Bella Note Card Set

I love paper, all kinds of paper and especially vintage, shabby, old world paper.  I'm a huge fan of Graphic 45 and put several of the G45 collections on my Christmas Wish List last year.  I was blessed with the Botanica Bella Deluxe Collectors Edition and I just broke into it last month.  I wanted to use it but just couldn't make myself open that glorious paper pack...you know the feeling...like when you break a $20 bill....it's gone in no time.

I created the cards by adding different elements such as ribbon, brads, buttons, die cuts, and distress inks.  They turned out lovely, a couple of the cards could be considered masculine.

I left sentiments off the fronts except for 1 card, the insides are also without sentiments so they could be used as note cards or I can stamp a sentiment if requested.

This set is listed in my Etsy Shoppe, thanks so much for stopping by today.

Till Next Time,

Donna
