You're Special on Your Birthday

Happy Sunday Funday!  I hope your weekend has been great and you've enjoyed some Spring-like weather.  The pollen in the air certainly has my allergies acting up, and I'm getting a sore throat...hope it's not a cold.

Today, I have a quick share featuring 2 birthday party goers, actually 3 but one is more mischievous than the others.  The images are from the Birthday Party Stamp Set by Penny Black.

I've colored using alcohol markers, and masked off the edges of the panel, then blended with light lilac ink to create a soft frame.  The sentiment and die cut word are part of a Combo set from Crafter's Companion.

This is such a sweet image, as all Penny Black images are, and this card was a quick and easy make.  That's all I have for today.  I wish you a great week ahead and until next time, Happy Crafting!

Magnificent Branch Happy Birthday

Hello And Happy Sunday!  Today is forecast to be another stormy day here in Central Florida so my plans are to stay in and be crafty.  During the rains yesterday, I created a birthday card for a 96 year old who loves flowers.  I hope she also appreciates my "mixed media" background.

To start, using acrylic paints, texture paste, stamps and found objects I created a mixed media background on a 5x5 mixed media card panel. The floral image is from the newest Altenew Build-A-Garden Magnificent Branch Set and I've colored with alcohol markers, then fussy cut.

I noticed the white texture paste that was stenciled on had picked up color as it dried so not as white as I wanted.  To correct this, I went over each of the wonky textured squares with a Posca White Paint pen.  TIP:  Make certain the paste is completely dry or you will ruin the tip of your pen(s).

Everything was adhered flat to the panel, which was matted with black card and adhered to a card base.  The Sentiment die cut and stamp are from the Happy Thoughts set by Crafter's Companion.  For the finishing touch, I've added Gold Sequins for extra sparkle.

I've really been enjoying mixed media and art journaling lately.  It's been fun to sit and create a card that is not my usual style...it's very liberating to just have fun.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Outlawz Progressive Challenge - The Paper Shelter

Hello and Happy June 1st!  Wow...Summer is in Full Swing here in Florida and today begins Hurricane Season...shhhhhh...let's not say that too loud!  Today also begins a new progressive challenge at the Outlawz Challenges with the Paper Shelter providing the Free Image.  I've been invited to Guest Design and of course I was honored; my GDT project features the adorable Sharing is Caring digital image.

I've colored the image with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers, fussy cut and mounted on foam pads.  The designer paper is from The Paper Shelter and matches the digital image.  I die cut the large "Love" and stamped the sentiment on matching card; both of which come from a Crafter's Companion Die and Stamp set.  This card measures 5.5" square.

Please stop by the Outlawz Progressive Challenge and read the directions how to get in on the monthly challenge, the image is provided to you and it's a lot of fun.  I thank the Outlawz for inviting me, it has been a true pleasure.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

You're Spooktacular

Hello and Happy Thursday...the 1st Day of October.  Wow...it's been a whirlwind, these months flying by.  I'll be sharing Christmas cards before long....shhhhhhhh!

Today's make and share is another spooky card featuring a slimline profile, die cutting, heat embossing and the Haunts and Harvest Stamp Set by Gina K. Designs.  This stamp set was part of her Fall Release and came in a huge card kit.

The spiders are from the stamp set; I stamped and heat embossed them and cut out with the matching dies.  The bat is a die I have in my stash from a few Halloweens ago along with the alphabet dies.  The spooky branches are from a Crafters Companion Fall die set and the designer papers are from Hobby Lobbys' loose 12x12 papers.  The slimline base and frame are also dies I was gifted earlier this year by a dear friend from overseas.  The card base was created using Gina K. Designs Sweet Mango cardstock.

For a finishing touch, I added orange sequins for a bit of All Hallows Eve sparkle.  I hope you like my whimical/scary card and will visit again soon.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!
