The Classic Design Challenge - Jun/Jul 2026

Hello and Welcome Back!  It's a busy Monday and time to start the new monthly challenge at The Classic Design Challenge Blog.  Our generous sponsor this month is LeAnn's World 101, and our optional Twist is: Summer Fun.

I've used the adorable Bill & Lill digital stamp and beach themed papers from Echo Park to create a Summer themed card.

After coloring this adorable couple with Copic Alcohol Markers, I've fussy cut them and added foam pads.  I like the beach houses, blue sky and clouds on this patterned paper; they make creating a beach scene so easy.  The sentiment is a pre-made strip from Simon Says Stamp and has been popped on foam pads also.

To finish, I've added blue Dazzles around the sentiment and gold streaks in Lill's hair using a Gelly Roll Sparkle Pen.

We hope you'll join us this month and share your projects, maybe you'll be inspired to use the optional Twist as well.  Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Classic Design Challenge - May/June 2026

Hello! It's time for a new challenge month at The Classic Design Challenge Blog, and our sponsor this month is the talented and generous Moondrea Designs. For my team project, I've chosen to use Proteas Queen.  Isn't she lovely?

I'll admit that images from Moondrea Designs intimidate me.  They are detailed and I always feel out of my comfort zone coloring them, however it's a good thing to step outside our comfortable boxes and try something new.  I've approached this image by coloring in small segments and that made it much easier for my brain to wrap around.

I've used alcohol markers to color her and dug out my color wheel for this project.  I just couldn't put together coordinating colors in my mind, and the color wheel is great for that!  I've cut the focal panel using nesting scalloped edge dies from Catherine Pooler.  The sentiment is from the Small Talk strip pack by Tim Holtz and has been popped on foam pads.

No bells and whistles added to her, other than a bit of highlights using a clear Gelly Roll glitter pen (which is not visible in the photos).

The team and I hope you'll visit and share your creative makes this month.  And don't be intimidated by detailed images, coloring this one was relaxing once I settled in and was the perfect craft for a Friday night.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

The Classic Design Challenge #01-2026 - Jan/Feb '26

Hello Friends and Welcome Back.  It's time for a new challenge month at The Classic Design Challenge Blog and our generous sponsor this month is Pattie's Creations and the optional Twist this month is: Use Circles. For my team project, I've went with a Valentine's Day theme, and colored the Hearts and Flowers Digital Stamp from Pattie's.

I've colored the image using Copic Alcohol Markers, the patterned paper is from the "Blush and Mint" 6x6 paper pad by Recollections, the sentiment is from the "Friendship Greetings" Stamp Set by Kat Scrappiness.

I've die cut the focal image using a nesting circle die from Kat Scrappiness. Lastly, I've added flat backed holographic sequins from Pretty Pink Posh and added Wink of Stella to the pink hearts.  The sentiment has been heat embossed and popped on foam pads, as well as the focal image.

I hope you'll pop over to the challenge and see what my teamies have created using images so generously provided by Pattie's Creations, and we hope you'll play along too!

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Classic Design Challenge - Dec '25/Jan '26 - Make It Merry

Hello Friends and Welcome Back! It's the 15th of the month and time for a new challenge at The Classic Design Challenge Blog.  The challenge is Always Anything Goes with an optional Twist, and the twist this month is: Make It Merry.

We're celebrating the holidays this month and have 2 prizes - one from our generous sponsor Goha Designs and the other is a gift voucher from Digi Doodle Studios.  For my team project, I've colored the Racing Snowman from Goha Designs using Copic Alcohol Markers.

I love Snowmen and this guy is just too cute!  He's racing to catch up with Santa so he can help on Christmas Eve, I hope he makes it!  After coloring, I've fussy cut him and added foam pads.  I've also cut the patterned panel using a fancy edged rectangle die and added a die cut Star Swirl.

The sentiment strip is from a pre-packaged Christmas Sentiment Strip Set by Simon Says Stamp, and it's on foam pads as well.  Lastly, I've added Crystal Stickles to his hat band and tail lights, and Glossy accents to the headlights.

We hope you'll play along this month and share your creativity with us.  Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Classic Design Challenge #10-2025 - Oct/Nov 2025

Hi Friends and Welcome Back!  Today begins a new challenge month at The Classic Design Challenge Blog, where it's Always Anything Goes with an Optional Twist.  The Twist this month is:  Autumn Splendor.  Our generous sponsor for this challenge is Rachelle Anne Miller.

I've colored the adorable Canadian Beavers Digital Stamp from Rachelle Anne Miller and semi-stayed with the optional Twist by using Autumn patterned papers.  These little nuggets are just too adorable!

The patterned papers are from the "Welcome Fall" 6x6 paper pad from Carta Bella.  I only have scraps left of this lovely paper pad so I'll need to make some Quilt cards, but I digress...

After coloring the image, I cut out the focal panel using a fancy stitched oval nesting die from My Favorite Things and popped on craft foam for dimension.

The sentiment is from an older and now retired stamp set from Cardz TV.  The sentiment strip has been cut using a die from My Favorite Things and popped on craft foam.  Lastly, I've added Wink of Stella to the leaves and the Beaver's noses, of course Wink never shows on camera!

We hope you'll come by the challenge and join in this month!  Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Classic Design Challenge #6 - June/July 2025

Hello Crafty Friends, I'm back with another post for this Sunday.  It's time for a new challenge month at The Classic Design Challenge Blog and our generous sponsor this month is Sheepski Designs.

I've colored the Emmy's Hat digital stamp using Copic Alcohol Markers for my team project, the patterned papers are from a 8x8 paper pad by Prima and I've used one of the cut-aparts for the image landing space and sentiment.

I've fussy cut the image and popped on foam pads for dimension.  To complete the design, I've added golden thread from Altenew, gold embellishments from Kat Scrappiness and a butterfly sticker from Jolee's.

We want to invite you to join us at The Classic Design Challenge this month.  We love seeing all your creative entries, so until next time, Happy Crafting!

Classic Design Challenge #01-2025

Hi Friends, it's the 15th of the month and that signals a new challenge month at The Classic Design Challenge Blog.  Our generous sponsor this month is SheepSki Designs and our Optional Twist is Winter Fun.

I've used the "Snow Happy" Digital image to create my card, and this snowman is definitely having a bit of Winter Fun creating Snow Angels!

There's not much coloring needed for a Snowman, just a few pops of color and a bit of shading to help him appear more round.  It's hard to see in the photo but I've highlighted the snow and "motion lines" with Crystal Stickles, so there would be glistening snow in the scene.

I almost added a few sequins but they just didn't look right, so I've left them off.  The patterned paper is from a 12x12 paper pad from Color Blok, which I've had in my stash for at least 10 years (I have so much designer paper, I forgot I had this pad..for shame, for shame!).  The sentiment is from the "Snowflake Season" Stamp Set by Penny Black.

That's all I have for today.  The team and I hope you'll visit us at The Classic Design Challenge, where the theme is Always Anything Goes with Optional Twists.  Until next time, Happy Crafting!
