Bokeh Technique - Warm Winter Wishes

Hello and Happy Sunday!  On this last day of January, I am sharing cards I created using the Bokeh Technqiue.  It's been a very long time since I used this technique, I had forgotten how so I watched a few You Tube videos to refresh my memory.

I used the Ornamental Snowflakes stamp set from Gina K. Designs, Distress Oxide Inks, Hero Arts Unicorn White Ink, Fun Stampers Journey Rock Candy Ink for the sentiment, heat embossing and a ornamental circle die.

The cards are similar except for the ink colors used for blending.  This was a fun make and a technique I will try again very soon.  It makes a beautiful background and I'm pleased with the finished product.

I want to remind everyone that a new monthly challenge starts on 03 February at The Paper Funday Challenges with an Anything Goes theme and Optional Twist.  There are 2 sponsors in February, so 2 winners, a Top 3 and a Random Invite to be a Guest Designer.  Please visit me on Wednesday for more details.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Bugaboo Saturday Challenge - Valentine's Jar

Hello and Happy Saturday!  I hope your past week was great and your weekend is better!  Today begins a new Saturday Weekly challenge at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug blog.  The theme for this week is Recipe:  1 Ribbon, 2 Buttons and 3 Layers.  For my design team project, I created an Aperture card featuring the Valentine Jar digital stamp (**this image is the Friday Freebie this week!).

I colored the image using my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers and to create the aperture, I die cut an oval opening in the front of the card base and the layer.  I also die cut the focal image using the same oval die so it would be a perfect fit and adhered to the inside of the card, lining up with the aperture opening.  The designer papers are from the Recollections "Love and Devotion" 12x12 paper pad and were used for the front and inner panels.

For the Recipe Theme, I used 1 pink ribbon, 3 red pieces of card candy as I did not have small, red buttons and there are 3 layers.  The sentiment is from the Cardz TV "Mini Messages" stamp set and for a finishing touch, loads of Wink of Stella over the focal image (it's a shame the shimmer and sparkle doesn't show in the photos).

Please stop by Catch the Bug Challenge Blog and enter your make using the Recipe Theme, we would love to see what you create.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Decoupage New Year's Cats

Happy Sunday!  Today's make and share features 2 crazy Cats celebrating the New Year, lots of fussy cutting, foam pads and decoupage.

I've had this decoupage kit for over a year and didn't create anything with it last year so, in line with trying to use what I have in my stash, I used these quirky kitties to create a New Year's card for my January Swap partner.

The kit is from Crafts U Print, the card measures 6' square and has many layers of decopauge.  For me, fussy cutting is hard to get started but once I'm into it, I get into a rhythm and it goes by quickly.  I mounted the panels on black card, rouneded the corners and added doodling using a White Gelly Roll pen.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Winter Fox and Hot Cocoa

Hello and Happy Thursday.  Today's make and share features the Lawn Fawn Winter Fox Stamp and Sentiment, designer papers from the Doodlebug Designs "Winter Wonderland" 6x6 paper pad.

The focal image was colored with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers and fussy cut, then mounted on a die cut and embossed circle.  A smaller circle was die cut and used for the sentiment, silver mirror card used as a mat and thin accent strip with clear gems added for interest.

I often forget about the smaller Lawn Fawn stamps sets I have in my stash.  In my continuing efforts to use what I have, I dug deep and came across this set and the Narwhal set I featured earlier this week; both perfect for Winter Themed cards.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Humor Me Wednesday at Catch the Bug

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  Today is Humor Me Wednesday at Bugaboo Stamps Catch the Bug Blog.  For those who don't keep up on such facts, today is also Penguin Awareness Day.  In honor of Penguins and Humor Me Wednesday, I've created a fun card featuring Poppi Penguin with his Scuba Gear.

I've used Stitched Rectangle Dies from Kat Scrappiness for cutting the focal image and mats, colored the image with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers and created the sentiment on the computer.  No bells and whistles added except for a small amount of Wink of Stella to the water puddle and the goggles.

Poppi is not allowing Winter to stop him from enjoying a bit of snorkeling and isn't shy about his feelings towards Winter....strange feelings for a Penguin!

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Hello and Happy Tuesday!  Today is a quick post sharing another New Year's card I created to welcome in 2021.  It features Bev the Barmaid from Dr. Digi's House of Stamps.

My card measures 5" square and the designer papers are from the American Crafts "Everyday" 6x6 paper pad. The gold mirror card was from my stash (I have loads I keep for holiday crafts), I colored the image using Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers, and added gold faux gems for a final design element.  It appears Bev is serving up a strong lager!

Have a Narly Winter!

Happy Sunday to you!  I hope your weekend has been productive and crafty thus far and you are staying warm and healthty.  Today's make and share features an adorable Narwhal with a sweet Winter Wish.

For this A2 sized card, I colored the Lawn Fawn "Winter Narwhal" image using Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers.  Using the coordinating dies, I cut the Narwhal and Bubbles, mounted on a die cut and enbossed circle which I popped up on foam pads.

The designer papers are from the Doodlebug Designs "Winter Wonderland" 6x6 paper pad and the sentiment is from the "Winter Narwhal" set. I used silver mirror card as a mat and accent strip along with an edge punch for a fun edging on the horizontal panel. For a final touch, I added clear gems to accent the wintery, underwater theme.

Happy Monday!  I hope your weekend was absolutely wonderful.

Today is Day #3 of the Bugaboo Birthday Bash at Bugaboo's Catch the Bug Challenge Blog and today's challenge theme is Anything But A Card featuring a Woodland Critter.  For my design team project, I created a St. Patrick's Day themed Birthday Treat Box using the Theodore Shamrocks image.

I cut the box template using my Cricut Electronic Cutting Machine and the Tags, Bags, Boxes and More Design Space file.  The designer paper is a digital paper file I've had in my stash for a few years now; purchased (if I remember correctly) from an Etsy Seller.  I colored Theodore and his little Ladybug friend with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers and mounted the focal image on the box lid using foam pads.  Lastly, I added some card candy for a bit of interest.

Please join us this week for the Birthday Bash at Catch the Bug Challenge Blog, there is plenty of time to enter your projects into any of the challenges.  Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Blue Winter Flourish

Hello and Happy Thursday.  Today's post is a short and sweet one featuring a Winter Wishes / Holiday card featuring a sweet winter bunny and heat embossing.

The image topper is from The Paper Pantry Vol. III titled A Sprinkle of Winter.  I die cut the image from the larger topper with a circle die and mounted on foam pads.  The background was created by heat embossing a stamp from the Gina K. Designs Holiday Tapestry set and inking over the entire panel with shades of blue Distress Oxide inks.  The final touch was adding a ribbon, bow and clear Nuvo Drops.

Happy Winter to you, until next time, Happy Crafting!

The Paper Funday Challenges - January 2021

Hello and Happy Wednesday!  Today begins a new monthly Challenge at The Paper Funday Challenges with the Theme of Anything Goes and Optional Twist:  Use the Color Blue.  This month we have 2 wonderful sponsors; Star Stampz and KaramfilaS.  Wow, a couple of Great Sponsors and 2 winners this month!

For my design team project, I created a New Year card using the Winter Houses Digital Papers from KaramfilaS.  This shoppe has so many wonderful papers, clip art and etc...I spent hours looking at everything!

The scene has a lovely snowflake sky so I added Snowflake die cuts to further enhance the Winter feel.  This card also matches the optional Twist of using Blue in the design.  The only Bells and Whistles are the gems I added to the snowflakes.  The sentiment is from the Mini Messages stamp set by Cardz TV.

A quick and easy card make but not at all simple with the wonderful colors and cute house images. Please join us this month for the challenge and until next time, Happy Crafting!

Pammie's Inky Pinkies - Newton's Nook

Hello and Happy Monday...the 1st Monday of 2021.  I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and ready to tackle the New Year.  Today starts a new challenge at Pammie's Inky Pinkies with the theme being Anything Goes.  The sponsor for this challenge is Newton's Nook.

For my design team project, I did not use a Newton's Nook image, instead using some Decoupage Sheets that were gifted to me for the holiday and I created a See Through Easel Card for the New Year.

This printable can be found on Card Making Downloads as a Freebie.  It's a decoupage kit and is quite stunning.  I printed out on matte photo paper and fussy cut all the images in the kit.  This did take some time but I enjoy fussy cutting. I added foam pads to the elements and kept stacking each on top of another until I liked the design.  The kit also contains a matching envelope, which I also put together.  The finished card and envelope measure approximately 5.5"x5" when standing and folds flat for mailing.

The sentiment is from the Mini Messages stamp set from Cardz TV, no other bells and whistles except for a bit of Wink of Stella.  I love working with decoupage kits, especially when I'm short on inspiration and have the patience for fussy cutting.

Please join us this week for the challenge, we would love to see your projects and until next time, Happy Crafting!

Octavia's Frosted Winter Family

Hello and Happy Sunday!  I hope your 1st Sunday of the New Year has been pleasant.  My make and share today features a Digital Stamp and flower from the Polkadoodles' Octavia's Frosted Winter Collection.

I created a Diamond Easel card using designer papers from the "Northern Lights" 12x12 paper pad by Recollections.  I chose to use the pre-colored images for my card today, adding some glitter to resemble falling snow. I fussy cut one of the embellishments that's included in the set to use as a stopper for the top panel.   This card measures 6" square when folded flat and makes for easy posting.

Thanks for visiting me today, until next time, Happy Crafting!

Crocheting Teddy Decoupage

Hello and Happy Saturday.  I hope your holiday weekend has been enjoyable thus far, mine has...I've been playing in the Craft Room and today's make and share features a cute Crocheting Teddy Bear with a Happy New Year Wish.

I used the Crochet Bear 6x6 Decoupage Kit purchased from Card Making Downloads to put this card together.  I fussy cut 3 layers to create the dimensional decoupage, mounting each layer with foam pads.  The sentiment is from the Cardz TV Mini Messages stamp set and the final touch was the card candy and Wink of Stella added.

I forget how relaxing decoupage kits can be, for me anyway as I like to fussy cut, I find it relaxing.  When I'm short on inspiration, the kits are a fun way to create pretty cards quick and easily.

Thanks so visiting and until next time, Happy Crafting!

This card measures 5.5' square and the image was colored with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers.  The designer paper is from a Martha Stewart 12x12 Paper Stack and I've added some golden sequins to enhance the party mood.  I hope you have a wonderful New Year Weekend and until next time, Happy Crafting!
