The Paper Funday Challenges - October Challenge

Hello and Happy October to All!  Are you experiencing Autumn weather yet?  Here in Florida, we had a cool down of sorts....in the 80's instead of 90's for a few days but that's all for now.  Hopefully it will cool sown enough for me to open windows and have some fresh air come into the house.

It's time for a new challenge at The Paper Funday Challenges.  The theme for this month is Anything Goes with the Optional Twist of Halloween.  Our wonderful sponsor for October is All Dressed Up Stamps.

I've created 2 cards for this challenge; one for the Twist and one ATG.

Card #1 was a fun, quick and easy Halloween Card to put together.  I used my Cricut and the Bats with Oct 31 image from the Creepy Critters cartridge through Cricut Access.  I added a simple mat that was embossed with a brick wall pattern as well as a Moon embossed with a swirls pattern.  I cut a Banner to layer up and called this card complete.  It's a standard A2 size that has been distressed with Black Soot distress ink.

Card #2 for the Anything Goes Theme is a Autumn themed card with the flower coming from the Cricut Access cartridge Flower Shoppe.  I followed a sketch from Cardz TV, using designer papers from the Photo Paper Play paper pad Autumn Day.  This card is also a standard A2 size with the sentiment from Cardz TV; I love Mary's tutorials and she was one of the You Tubers I watched over and over when I started cardmaking.

We hope you will join us this month at The Paper Funday Challenges, we would love to have you and hope to inspire you with our Design Team projects.

Until Next Time, Happy Crafting!

A Wilted Violet and Gold Happy Birthday Celebration

Good Monday to you!  Today I'm sharing a birthday card I made for a co-worker, her favorite color is purple.

I wanted a simple yet striking card that incorporated her favorite color and few design elements.  I used Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Ink for the background with an intricate die cut for an overlay and a die cut Butterfly for dimension.  I heat embossed the sentiment with Ranger Gold Embossing powder and place some violet gems for sparkle.

I'm pleased with how it turned out and I hope she likes it.  Thanks for stopping in today and until next time, Happy Crafting!

No Patterned Paper

Hi Crafty Friends.  I wanted to try my hand at creating some A2 sized cards with only plain card, ink, vellum and minimal embellishments.  CAS (clean and simple) is really not my style but I'm trying to expand my thinking and try new ideas.

I needed Birthday Cards for my stash so I went to work by embossing the card and coloring with Distress Oxide Inks.

I hand stamped and heat embossed the sentiments on vellum.  I added some glitter spray, sequins and acrylic drops.

The embossed designs really pop with the colors.  I'm a huge fan of the Distress Oxide Inks and wouldn't be without them in my crafting stash.

I hope you like my cards and were inspired to create some cards with no patterned papers.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Pool Weather

Hello Everyone!  Hope you're having a great Friday!

Today I'm sharing another sweet image I colored with my new Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers.  I feel like a kid again, coloring and enjoying every moment of it.

This image is from Little Miss Muffet Stamps and I thought so appropriate for summer.  It's been in the high 90's here in Florida this past week so swimming has definitely been in order.

I colored her with the following Spectrum Noir colors:
Skin:  TN2, FS2, FS3
Sandals and Suit:  DR3, DR5, IG4
Flower:  PP3, PP5, PL1, GB5
Float:  LV1, LV2, CT2, CT4
Hair:  EB2, EB5, GB8

The card measures 5" x 5" and the embossed mat was colored with Distress Oxide Ink in the color Wilted Violet.  I also used a border die for the lace sides and a Fiskars corner punch for the circle details on the focal image.

I'm pleased with how she turned out although I feel I need more practice on the hair.  I'll be coloring all weekend and hopefully my technique for coloring hair will improve.

Thanks for visiting and until next time, Happy Crafting!

Lemon and Blue Card with Matching Box

Hello Everyone, I hope all is well with you and yours.

Today I want to share the first completed project in a series I am creating.  I love to create embellished cards however they can be too bulky to properly fit into an envelope so I decided I would create a box to match the card.

This project was very enjoyable to create; the lemon and blue combo turned out fantastic and I feel the black sentiment really sets the card apart from crowd.

I used some of my favorite embellishments which are flowers!  I also used die cut leaves and a background piece I cut from Cricut Design Space.  I embossed the blue mat with an unbranded embossing folder and added some lace trim from my stash.  The sentiment and yellow shadow piece are also from Cricut Design space images.

The Box was embellished with a polka dot mat and some matching ribbon.  The card is an A2 size ( 4.25" x 5.5") and the box is slightly bigger than that to accommodate the card.

This card and box are currently listed for purchase in my Etsy Shoppe (link to my shoppe on the right).  I hope you enjoyed this project today and were inspired.  Please come back to see more cards with matching boxes this week.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Birthday Splash Out

Hello Everyone!  I hope all is well with you and yours.  My stash of cards is getting very low and I like to keep cards on hand so I'm prepared.  I'm in desperate need of Birthday cards so I decided it's no time like the present to get some cards made.

Recently I ordered a copy of the U.K Magazine Papercraft Essentials from More Mags.  Included in Issue 158 was an adorable stencil, die and stamp set featuring a frog, duck, water puddle, Wellingtons, sentiments and more.  The set was designed by Crafti Potential and is just fun!

The card measures 5.5" x 4.25" (a standard A2 card) in a landscape format.  I colored the images with alcohol markers, used a circle die to create an opening on the mat for the Pond; using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide ink in the color Salty Ocean to color the pond.  I fussy cut the frog and Wellies, die cut the puddle and droplets with the dies included in the magazine purchase.  I think Mr Frog turned out great and the card was given to a co-worker for her birthday.  She thought it was cute!

Thanks for visiting and till next time, Happy Crafting!

A Wooden Crate of Daisies

Hello Everyone!  I hope all is well with you and yours.

I love box cards and when I came across the tutorial for this sweet wooden crate of daisies I couldn't resist creating it myself.

The tutorial can be found on the Mixed Up Craft Site here:  Daisy Week.  This lovely lady has a wonderful talent for creating unique fold projects and this daisy box is no exception.  I followed her instruction but added my own spin on things.

I used beige 110 lb. cardstock for the crate base and sent the strips through the Cuddlebug using a wood grain embossing folder.  I inked the strips with Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Vintage Photo.  For the flowers, I used an unbranded daisy die set I purchased from AliExpress and hand cut the stems from green cardstock.  The stems were a little too flimsy for my liking so I glued strips of paper together to give the stems some strength.   I colored the centers of the flowers with a yellow alcohol marker (Ohuhu Markers on Amazon).

I cut a circle using an unbranded circle die set I purchased on AliExpress and stamped a sentiment from the Scrapbooking Queen for the front of the box card.  I needed a place to write a sentiment so I cut out 2 mats, inked the edges with Vintage Photo, stamped the sentiment from a CardzTV Stamp Set and attached to the back of the flower crate.

This lovely daisy crate can be used as a shelf or desk sitter; it will also fold flat for mailing.  It will fit into a stand A2 card sized envelope.

I hope you enjoy my post today.  Till next time, Happy Crafting!
