Inspiration Station Challenge #43 - Holiday Magic

Hello and Happy Monday!  Today begins a new bi-weekly challenge at The Inspiration Station Challenge Blog.  The challenges are always inspired by a photo prompt and how you intrepret the photo is your own.  This is a traditional and festive photo and I was inspired by the Stockings.

My project features the stocking image from the Dare 2B Artzy Stamp Set "Holiday Magic".  The sentiment is from an older Cardz TV Stamp Set that I've had in my stash for several holiday seasons.

When needing inspiration, aside from a challenge photo, I like to visit Pinterest.  I found a lovely card created by Inking Idaho and created my own twist from her sweet card.

To start, I stamped and colored the stocking using alcohol markers and fussy cut.  I created a stone fireplace using a snippet of white card and an embossing folder from Darice, then highlighted the brick using a gray alcohol marker.  It's hard to see, but I also created a mantle and popped it on craft foam for dimension.

The Kraft card panel was stamped using the star image from that older Cardz TV set, using light brown ink from Catherine Pooler.  I've highlighted the stars with a Glimmer Gel pen for sparkle.

The cluster of foliage, snowflake and bow were cut using dies from Alina Craft, the ribbon is from my stash and gold thread from Spellbinders.  I think I may have picked that holiday ribbon up at Hobby Lobby a few years ago.  To finish it off, I added Crystal Stickles to the snowflake, bow and the white dots on the stocking.

I love Christmas, it's my favorite time of year.  This year, my dear hubby had an issue with hanging the outdoor lights.  With his back issues and arthritis, this may be the last Christmas for outdoor lights hanging from the eaves.  This makes me sad but I accept that things change and we have to adapt.  Getting older is not for sissies!

We hope you'll join us at The Inspiration Station Challenge.  We are always thrilled to see all the lovely projects and we hope to inspire you with ours.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Donna

  6. An adorable card and great design. Oh yes, as far as the outdoor decorations go, I hear you. My Honey refused last year so we had nothing. This year I got on Amazon and ordered some solar-powered twinkle light strings for the railings around our front porch and a door wreath of gold balls that reflects the lights. It's a small thing but he doesn't have to run all the extension cords, nor do we even have to worry about turning them on or off - they go on at dusk and off at dawn. Honey is a happy man now! And I'm happy to at least get my porch decorated, lol. (And the way people are nowadays, any more might get stolen! SMH) Enjoy your last year of it, XOX
